Learning 'til the Day I Die

The best way that I learn is through others. I love to sit down with older, more "experienced" people and listen to what they have to say about certain issues. Conversations with them will usually begin by me asking a question to gain insight or a question to seek their wisdom and advice. I've come to terms with the fact that I'm still young and dumb and that I need all the help I can get at this stage in my life. I love to pick wiser minds and receive their two cents.
How might this look in the world of a social work professional? Well for me this would mean that I will have to actively seek out those who have been in the profession for a substantial amount of time. Once I've found those experienced veterans, I will need to sit down with as many as I possibly can to learn all that can from their years of experience. If situations arise with my own clients and I'm not 100% sure how the best way to handle the situation, then that is exactly where I use resources such as those wiser, more experienced professionals. I would go to them in those kinds of situations and ask them for their advice or ask what they might do if in a similar situation. Who knows, they could have dealt with the exact same type of scenario or client in years past and have the perfect advice or knowledge to give me to help guide me through the situation.
A wise man once told me, "You'll never be done learning."
